Fren’Cherry Miller

A Native Son Committed to Service and Our Community

Master Sergeant Fren’Cherry Miller (Ret.) is a decorated United States Marine, servant-leader, and community-centered candidate for Mayor of Jackson–Madison County. If elected, he will make history as the first African American County Mayor in the county’s nearly 225-year history — a milestone rooted not in symbolism, but in discipline, service, and a lifelong commitment to putting People Over Politics.

A native of Jackson, Tennessee, Fren’Cherry was educated in the local school system and is a 1986 graduate of Denmark West Senior High School. His journey reflects the values of faith, grit, perseverance, and family that shaped his upbringing. The people, neighborhoods, teachers, pastors, and mentors of Jackson helped build the foundation of character and purpose that guides his service today.

Fren’Cherry served honorably in the United States Marine Corps for 29 years, rising to the rank of Master Sergeant and earning the trust of Marines and senior commanders across the globe.

Throughout his career, he held demanding leadership roles, including:

  • Air Traffic Controller

  • Telecommunications Chief

  • Senior Enlisted Advisor to Colonels and Three-Star Generals

  • District Injured Support Coordinator for the Wounded Warrior Regiment

In the Wounded Warrior Regiment, he advocated for injured and recovering Marines and their families, ensuring they received care, resources, and unwavering support.

His service took him to Okinawa, Hawaii, Africa, Spain, Greece, Israel, France, Oman, Romania, and throughout the Middle East in support of operational missions. He coordinated complex logistics, built partnerships with international leaders, and ensured Marines had the readiness, structure, and leadership necessary to accomplish their mission.

He believes leadership means:

  • Leading from the front

  • Creating opportunity for all

  • Ensuring dignity and safety in every neighborhood

  • Supporting working families

  • Encouraging responsible economic growth

  • Building a future every child can believe in

  • Training for the Unexpected

His life’s work has centered on solving problems, embracing a “hand-up” philosophy, and showing up when it matters most.

Now, he is ready to serve again — this time at home — as a servant leader for Madison County in the community that shaped him.

This is history in motion.
